"WE
ARE MORE THAN WE THINK WE ARE!" Whether conceived in pain or bliss,
these are healing words for African American women of every generation.
Whether our journey has been flooded with affirmation or wrought with
sorrow, whether all our dreams have come true or we remain hostage to
our darkest nightmare, "we are more than we think we are!"
With that in mind, there is no healthy or holy reason for marriage to diminish your self-esteem. Before the throne of God we all stand both inadequate and forgiven. Despite that, in the moment when you feel unworthy, consider that to God you are -a little lower than the angels" (Psalm 8:5, NKJV). You must embrace your standing in God's realm unconditionally. To be a symbolic or ritualistic first lady is bogus. Being an authentic spouse requires an affirmation within your soul that embraces all that God has made you. Our husbands cannot give us identity; only God can. Our spouses can only share with us their own souls, longing for completion. Consider the words of the poet William Waring Cuney: "She does not know her own beauty" Do not let these words be your eulogy. Rather, say of the life of challenge and opportunity before you, "I was born for this!"

Thanks for support of the Day of Caring and Sharing held at Quinn Chapel
A.M.E. Church in Independence, Kansas on Saturday, May 10, 2008. We
were blessed beyond measure and the event was an overwhelming success.
More than 60 adults and young people completed projects such as
replacing ceiling tile, re-screening doors, replacing light fixtures,
painting, dusting, cleaning, planting flowers, and shrubs, etc.
It was truly a day of restoration, caring and sharing.
Words can not express our gratitude for the contributions of time,
talent and finances donated by churches and individuals. Your
expressions of love, kindness, and charity will always be remembered.
We pray you will continue to be blessed as we endeavor to serve, manage,
age and live well.

Presiding Elder,

Linda Cousin
Chair, Commission on Christian Social Action
Kansas Nebraska Women's Missionary Society
When
it was announced several months ago that the WMS was spearheading a
mission trip to help out one of our sister churches in the outlining
area of our presiding elder district, all I knew was the date and the
purpose. I wrote it in my planner and planned to be there one way or
another.
My motivation
in going was connected to the prayer I pray every morning when I wake
up: “Lord, make me into an ambassador for You such that others may
experience You through me.”
Every Sunday,
while offering the benediction, I pray that God would place people in
our paths that we can be a blessing to. This weekly benediction
challenges my congregation to “be a blessing to someone else.” The work
we did in Independence, Kansas is a manifestation of that blessing.
As a pastor,
instructor on the Board of Examiners, two-time YPD “Pastor of the Year,”
and the newly elected President of the AME Ministerial Alliance of
Greater Kansas City and Vicinity, I felt it was essential that I be
there, not just for a photo-op, but to serve, to work, and to show the
love that Christ placed in my heart, exemplified when He died upon the
cross for my sins.
To be an
effective pastor, I have to lead by example. One of my youth observed me
on my knees painting the trim around Quinn Chapel – Independence and
noted, “I love Rev. Glenn – wherever we go, there he is.” I went there
to work, not supervise. I went there to lend a helping hand, not pose
for pictures.
I was not
sure what I would be asked to do, but I went with a willing spirit. I
didn’t expect to be applauded, exalted, thanked, or recognized. I’m a
servant and a servant’s job is to serve. John Wesley, the father of
Methodism, said it best, “Lord, let me do all the good I can, to as many
as I can, for as long as I can...”

Read this and make a copy for your files in case you need to refer to it someday. Maybe we should all take some of his advice! A corporate Attorney sent the following out to the employees in his company.
1. Do not sign the back of your credit cards. Instead, put "PHOTO ID REQUIRED."
2. When you are writing checks to pay on your credit card Accounts, DO NOT put the complete account number on the "For" line. Instead, just put the last four numbers. The credit card com p any knows the rest of the number, and anyone who might be handling your check as it passes through all the check processing channels won't have access to it. (more)
“I’m
so tired of going back and forth to Court. We do all this work,
spend all this money, get our hopes up, and accomplish nothing. In the
meantime, our kids are getting worse and worse.”
“My grandfather passed two years ago and he left a house worth
$500,000.00. We have spent a third of it fighting over who gets
what, and the case is still not resolved.”
When your legal battle breaks your heart -- Divorce, Custody, Probate,
Church, Employment, Community Relations – Mediation is one of the most
effective ways to resolve your conflict. If you’re involved in a
legal battle, or one is up ahead, you should seriously consider using a
skilled mediator. Mediation of family-(including church family)
related disputes often produces better outcomes, and saves you valuable
resources.

Ebooks are part of the new frontier of cyberspace. They are an entirely new medium for sharing marketing information, ideas, techniques, and expert knowledge. Each day the number of people accessing the Internet grows, causing the exposure of your ebook to increase incrementally. It's obvious why electronic self-publishing has become so popular so quickly.
The publishing industry, I hope, does not intend to forever banish the printed word to the dustbin of history. Books in print have their own special qualities and merits, and the world would be diminished by their disappearance. (more)

My View
The meltdown in the subprime mortgage market is having immediate economic repercussions in Florida. A subprime mortgage is a financial instrument where the borrower pays a premium above the so-called primary adjustable rate market due to defects in the borrower's credit history. An adjustable rate mortgage is similar to buying a stock option. The buyer of a call option (adjustable rate mortgage) is hedging that interest rates will not rise in the future. It is estimated that Florida and California together comprise approximately one-third of all foreclosures in this market. (more)
